Why Take
This Learning Track?
Has anyone ever told you that you were a
good listener? Have you ever been unsure of
how to help someone? Peer Ministers develop
communications skills that allow them to
reach out beyond themselves to affectively
help those around them. Skills include
listening, questioning, nonverbal
communications, welcoming a stranger, and
values and decision making: all in the
context of a Christian faith.
Prerequisites - Things you
must do to take this track:
Identify your mentor and get to him/her. You
will be required to provide your mentor’s
contact info during the online registration
process. FOR GRADES 9-ADULT
To-Do
Before You Come
1.Meet
with your mentor at least one time before
coming.
Ask him/her who or what has influenced
his/her faith life. Swap stories about your
faith journey.
2.Discuss the
different ways you have both cared for
people in your life so far.
3.Pray
together
To Be A
Successful Leader
1.Meet
with your mentor to develop a plan of how
you will use your new skills in the
congregation and community.
2.Draw on
your shared passions to initiate a peer
ministry in your congregation. |
